They’re galvanised steel so rust resistant but will rust at some point. Stainless steel would be better and actually at this price point I would expect stainless steel! They’re machine bent pieces of thin bar steel. As they’ve been snipped off in the machine they’ve created a pointed end so makes it easy to push into the ground and through the weed mat. Not much more I can say about the product design or quality. The biggest issue is these are way too expensive. They’re a use and forget product. Once you have your weed matting down and covered with whatever you’re using (gravel, wood chip etc.) it won’t make much difference. You’d be much better off buying some thick steel wire, bending it yourself with some pliers/vice, and snipping them with some tin snips. 50p each in my opinion is very steep, likely they cost a tenth of this to make.

As weed membrane pegs go, these are a wee bit thinner than average so need to be tapped into firmer ground carefully to avoid mangling them. They won't withstand much of a bash from a metal hammer but a rubber mallet will leave them intact. Whilst they are galvanised a therefor rust resistant, once they're in the ground they will corrode eventually but by then, you'll have gravel or wherever over the top of the membrane so won't need to rely upon them anyway! The price is a on the steep side at a tenner for 20 pegs and to be honest, I've had sturdier, longer ones for much less so couldn't recommend these at that price but if they were cheaper then I would.

Packaging: Narrow, plain cardboard box with flip lid. Product: 20 x 10cm, galvanised steel landscape pegs, lose in the box. Functionality: Small, steel 'U' shape pegs, 10cm height, 2.5cm wide (top), 3cm wide (base). They are 3mm thick and the ends are pointed. I have several projects in the garden which require these fasteners: weed membrane over a grass area that I wish to kill off (as it will be used for a vegetable patch) and netting over a freshly seeded meadow. However, these pegs are versatile and can be used for various purposes. Pegging the netting over the meadow - the earth was soft as it had been dug over, so they went in with ease. They stayed firm too and did not dislodge despite the weather (although the netting is very light weight). Pegging the weed membrane - this area covers grass and had not been dug over, so the ground is hard and full of debris. Once the pegs met resistance I could not get them in any further and had to feel around for softer ground. I have found this is the same for most types of pegs though. They did the job and I would certainly order some more. At the time of this review 20 pegs were £9.99, which I think is a little expensive at 50 pence each.

These are as described in the listing they are U-shaped pegs 100mm tall, 25mm wide. They have numerous uses in garden including pegging down temporary fencing to stop your small dog getting under it, however for this purpose in future I would go for slightly longer ones at 150mm as 100mm in soft ground is just not enough hold. But for what they advertise as pegs for weed membrane they are fine so I am not knocking any stars off for that. Galvanised steel will rust at some point and at the price should really be stainless steel so for the material I have dropped a star and because of the price I have dropped another star.
