It’s basically a skills mat with a ball on an elastic cord that clips round the waist, so the ball never strays too far. His mum reckons it’s better than the one she picked up in town for a similar price – this mat’s much thicker, the materials feel sturdier, and overall the quality’s a step up. My nephew’s over the moon with it, and it’s keeping him busy practising his skills. For the money, it’s well worth it – five stars all day long. Got this for my grandson, he’s six and has just started going to football training. It’s been very useful for him, something he can do in the house without having to worry about the ball hitting anything valuable. It has helped him with his ball control. It comes with a handy storage bag, and unlike a lot of mats, it has a training belt, which you can put around their waists and attach a ball via an elastic tether. Theirs a code on the leaflet that comes with it so you can watch practice videos. It is a very good quality product, and is nicely packaged. Would make any budding footballers a brilliant present.

My 9 year old nephew couldn't wait, ripped the box out my hands the moment I arrived and made me spend the next hour in the garden with him. He confirmed that they use similar training techniques for dribbling, ball control, turning etc. during football training, albeit they use line markers and cones instead of a matt. The material of the matt seems strong and should last for a while, even if it gets wet or is placed on grass. Can't say much about the variety of exercises as I'm by no means an expert on football training (I'm more of a couch-potato who prefers to watch others play) but it kept my nephew busy for quite some time. It seems that he liked the kick-trainer, an elastic cord that gets attached to a football so it bounces back after kicking the ball, even more and I think it's a far more entertaining way (and less damaging way as well, haha) of playing football as a sole player than kicking the ball against walls or fences.
